For What It Is Worth!!

Mike Kelly was commissioned to find the value of various artifacts supplied by our members. The first item, from President Johas, was a copper horse that was given to his mother from his father from one of their anniversaries. The piece was worth $200.

Tony brought in a pin that had the inscription on the back (Vella Ford). It turns out to be the Great Aunt of Rotarian Ken Ruzich. (it was later told to me that Tony did not have any items, so he hit up Ken for some stuff). The pin is worth $50-$75.

Rick brought in some items that he had no idea what they were worth. He brought in some rings that he inherited from different relatives. Come to find out that those rings were costume rings and had no real value. He also had a pocket watch that was made in the 1920's. It was great to find out that the watch was worth 15 times the original value. Unfortunately, the original cost was around $1.00.

Carol brought in a pocket watch that was made in 1892. The piece had an estimated value at $350.

FFA Project Guest: Jessica Dubay

Mike Brady invited Jessica Dubay, of Delta High School, to our meeting on Tuesday to talk about the 2 lambs that she is raising and planning to sell them at the State Fair. She is a secretary for her FFA group along with many other accomplishments for public speaking.

I was very impressed with her poise and when asked by President Johas, her ability to recite the beginning of the Green Hand Creed.

Her mother, Suzette, was also present to announce that there will be a benefit at the Old Sugar Mill on May 6, 2006 to help the FFA and the Boosters program at Delta High School. There will be dinner and dance along with a live and silent auction. If you are interested, please call Delta High School for more information.

A New Rotarian: Leo Grover

Mike Palmer inducted our newest member Leo Grover, on March 14th. He was given all of the great facts about the organization that he is now a member of, along with the initial responsibilities that he must complete in order to receive his blue badge.

Carol Thomas, his sponsor, was on hand to do the honors of placing his pin on during the ceremony. Welcome to our club, Leo!
